August (in a) rush

August 22, 2013

August has become a quick month, for me. First, it's because it has three holidays in it (Eid'l Fitr, Ninoy Aquinoy Day, National Heroes Day.) Second, it is the time of the year when storms / typhoons are frequent in our country, thus, class suspension happens. Lots of it.

The past few days has been tough to my fellow Filipinos, certainly because of two major tragedies (pork barrel scam excluded.) One is the incident of a sunken ship in Cebu, where almost 60 people were already found dead, while there is still a number who are missing. The other tragedy was caused by a deadly combination of tropical storm Maring and strong monsoon wind. The storm had already left the Philippines but thousands of families are affected, at large. Many families have evacuated their homes, some voluntarily while some in a forced manner. Good thing that the Local Government Unit (LGU) have responded to the basic needs of the people who are most affected. Non-government organizations have also made their way to help the needy. These are one of those times when Filipino spirit is unfailing and inspiring.

While some families have lost someone or their homes to the storm, some people (I noticed online) complain about their crappy internet connection. That irritated me. These times, we should be able to recognize how blessed we are. How our simple problems meant trivial to those who almost lost everything and how we should be more thankful and grateful rather than complaining.

I pray for everyone to be safer during these difficult times, to be thankful to those who extend their hands to help, and to appreciate what is left.

Anyway, I'm sharing a photo of my mom and dad which make me laugh so hard.
Face swapped Dad and Mom
Stay blessed and grateful! ♡
